Because of the unexpected turn of events, YG Entertainment could not help but express its surprise and a hint on what is next to come for Sandara Park.
“We didn’t know that Sandara Park will be receiving this kind of hot reaction. She’ll soon officially debut as an actress in a drama. She left the Philippines for a career in Korea and that’s sad. But after establishing a strong base here, we’re planning on doing promotions in the Philippines.”
It was announced on 14th October, 2008 that YG Entertainment will reveal the new girl's group and they will debut in May next year.”
Yang Hyun Seok also said, “The final decision is that they will debut next February after sorting out the various preparations for their debut. This new female group will consist of at least 4 member, if not 5, though we have not come to a final decision on that yet. But we are confident that they will be a strong group which will display a different type of charisma for fans.”

The group's name was initially announced as "21"; however, due to the discovery of a singer with the same name, the group was quickly renamed "2NE1".
The group consist of CL, the leader of the group, Bom Park, lead vocalist, Minzy, main vocalist and dancer and Sandara Park as " Dara ", vocalist and face of the group.
On March 27, 2009, 2NE1 was featured in a commercial for the LG phone Lollipop with Big Bang. The group then gained popularity and was labelled the Female Big Bang and their debut became a hot topic in South Korea and overseas.
Dara was the first among the members of 2NE1 to release a digital single entitled "Kiss" on September 7, 2009. The song was produced by Teddy Park and was featured in Sandara's first ever commercial for Cass Beer alongside with Lee Min Ho - a famous KDrama actor.
